Your timeline
This is one of the most important planning resources for your day! It not only helps you plan out when to include each detail, but all vendors and planners will need this as well. I will send over a shared document for you to add your wedding day timeline. Now the key is to always leave some extra time and don’t cram in too much in a tight schedule. Always leave some wiggle room, cause to be honest.. nothing goes as planned on a wedding day and something might go wrong…it’s just bound to happen lol. Make sure to plan for things that may take longer than expected, that way everyone feels relaxed and not rushed/stressed. If you are needing some assistance on your timeline, please reach out! I have many examples I can send to you.
Getting Ready Area
One of the biggest tips I can give to you is to plan to get ready some place that allows a lot of light and natural sun from windows. This is not only helpful for photos but it is great for your hair and makeup artist to get the perfect look on you! Be intentional with where you are getting ready, it can really affect the mood that you are going for. It is best to have a lot of open space so you do not feel like you're in a can of sardines lol.
Back to lighting, get ready next to the closet window to get the softest lighting that will make you just glow! This will make your images stand out so much more.
Portraits
Directly after the ceremony (after all the Recessional line) we will jump into formal Family photos. This is usually a stressful time to make sure everyone is around. It wouldn't hurt to send a little reminder to have them stick around the location of photos. I will also have you give me a list of each family and combination of photos you are wanting, without the names it will be hard for me to gather them around. We will shoot to try to have the family photos done within 20 minutes.
Next we will head straight into bridal party photos! Usually, if you do not do first looks we will do all the group photos after the ceremony. When thinking of a location and timing, it is best to have a place that is nicely shaded. No one wants squinty eyes and sweaty foreheads. If you need help brainstorming locations, send me a message and we can figure out a timeline. If everyone has their listening ears and ready to roll, we will be able to get these all done within 20 minutes!
Now onto my FAVORITE part of the day, bridal portraits. The few moments you get to spend with your new husband or wife (and me of course), we get to capture the true love between you two. We will have a check-list ready of certain spots and poses that we like. We will also get a few solo shots if we were not able to before the ceremony. Again, with lighting outside, it is best to have a shaded area. If you would like some inside we can do that too! We want to look for a lot of natural light coming in from windows or we can rock with some flash photos. Please try to plan 30 minutes of photoshoot time for this!
Overall, it is best to plan for at least an hour of photo time and also include travel time if we have to drive to your photo location!
Reception
Let's get this partyyy started in here!
Communicate with your DJ to turn off all the colorful lights and have a night white light for this! It will make the images stand out wayyy better. But if you are wanting that style, then that is totally okay with me! (these are your photos!)
Same as above, I would rather have your first dance photos have a nice natural color than looking like a blue Smurf! I have had my fair share of editing purple and green photos and not being able to change the color of the face or dress. You and I will thank me later!
I will be joining you all at the same time to eat dinner! I do not think anyone wants photos of them with full cheeks of food lol! Try to plan to not put me in a separate room or in the back corner. It can be hard sometimes to see any special moments going on that I need to hop up for!
I will be most defiantly joining you all on the dance floor to capture all the amazing (and not so amazing) dance moves of your family and friends! These are my second favorite images to capture during the day! After a hard days of work, sometimes I just want to hang out and join the dancing party! If your friends and family are pulling some awesome dances moves, I will stay a little extra to make sure we get those captured!
